Preview

The inaugural Wollop Open got off to a cloudy, dull start at Rhos-On-Sea golf club. 6 players took to the tee respectively to fight it out with all of the focus being on the new-to-the sport, and high-odds bandit, Sion Lamont.

Originally a cloudy photo, this one has been photoshopped to improve aesthetic

A beer or two were shared on the 2nd tee, some say it was to settle nerves, some claim it was to gain a competitive edge. However, fantastic golf was displayed throughout the front 9 with James Moore narrowly ahead at the turn.

Great approach shot from Michael Flynn, looking to capitalise on a birdy opportunity. Just look at that pitch mark

Towards the final few holes, a late resurgence of form struck Sion Lamont. Holing in blind from off the green on 17 to take a 1 shot lead heading into the last. The Wollops could only watch and admire the sheer brilliance combination of calmness and collectiveness from Lengthy.

The Inaugural Wollop Open 2020 was won by Sion Lamont, edging a 1 shot lead over the field. Our attention is now turned towards the 2021 Wollop Open due to be played at Carden Park.
